When founders become Angel Investors (Event)

In recent years, several Slovak companies (startups) have successfully exited, and their founders have become Angel investors. Angel investors, in addition to finance, bring their own valuable experience to the next generation of Slovak startup entrepreneurs.

Vestberry, one of the fastest growing Slovak startups, closed another investment round in April 2022 in the amount of almost one million euros. Besides the first investors, such as businessman Ján Kmeťo from KB-Soft Holding or investor Martin Hauge from the Swedish fund Haflo (also known as one of the first investors in Spotify), three well-known personalities of the CEE startup community also invested in Vestberry – Šimon Šicko, co-founder of Pixel FederationAndrej Kiska jr., partner of the Credo Ventures fund, and František Krivda, co-founder of the Slido platform.

On this occasion, we decided to organize a panel discussion. We talked with angel investors about why they invest in start-up projects/startups, how the startup environment has changed since its beginnings, and what it’s like to be in the position of an investor instead of a founder.

Panellists

Šimon Šicko, Investor & Co-founder of Pixel Federation
Andrej Kiska, Investor & Partner Credo Ventures
Boris Zelený, Investor & Founder of the Green Foundation
Ján Kmeťko, Investor & Founder of K.B. Systems

The discussion will be moderated by Marek Zámečník, CEO & Co-founder of VESTBERRY

📍 Where: Campus City
📆 When: June 7 from 18:00 to 22:00

Vestberry
Startup Vestberry was founded by Marek Zámečník, Ján Káčer and Matej Pavlanský in 2018 after successfully graduating from the prestigious fintech accelerator F10 in Switzerland. The startup’s ambition is to build a sophisticated technological infrastructure tailored for venture capital & private equity customers in Europe and the world, which will replace manual analyzes and reports in Excel. Implementing the Vestberry platform brings customers a competitive advantage, either in the speed and quality of investment decisions or in their attractiveness to more and more data-oriented investors.

Campus Cowork
The story of Campus Cowork began in 2016 when the founders of 0100 Ventures were looking for a space for themselves and a group of their friends. They got an offer in the Binarium building, and it was here that the idea was born to create a space where like-minded people can meet, which will become a strong business community. The aim of the Campus since its establishment has been to connect smart people and support innovation and entrepreneurship. In 2018, another coworking space, Campus City, was added to the premises in Mlynská dolina.
